Ilana Beloborodov

Hi! My name is Ilana (ih-lah-nah). I’m a director, screenwriter, editor, and cinematographer.

I’m passionate about storytelling, and film’s unique ability as a medium to transport both audiences and crew to worlds previously unimagined.

My stories center around joie de vivre: I’m in awe of life and I love to share the emotional truth of the human experience with others.

When reluctantly spending time in the real world, I love sharing oranges with friends, skiing, and memorizing song lyrics.

  • My approach to directing is first and foremost collaborative. I have a clear, stylized vision, but a vision cannot come to life without the work of a team; I value those I work with above anything!

  • I’ve been writing in all forms since middle school, but I’ve found my home in screenwriting. I specialize in comedy, romance, whimsy, and magical realism.

  • A story cannot come to life until the edit— choosing the right moment to use at the exact right time is a delicate and crucial art. My editing approach is precise, yet maintains the intangible magic that runs through all aspects of film.
